We’ve all been there – skipping the wash day in favor of more exciting things. To help you out on one of those occasions, we gathered a few simple ideas that will make your ‘second-day’ hair presentable. Keep scrolling for 3 video tutorials of pre-shampoo hairstyles which will soon become your go-to looks.
A snatched middle-part bun is a no-brainer when it comes to styling second-day hair. Using a wax stick helps to disguise the fact that your hair is not as fresh. Actually, if you think about it, these slicked-back hairstyles won’t come out as neat on freshly washed hair. Also, who wants to apply wax straight on clean locks?
If you fancy something more free-spirited, make it a half-bun and use a three-barrel curler, aka mermaid waver, to style the ends. The wavy texture will jazz up your locks and make them look fresher than they are. Make two tight braids on each side of your parting to embrace that ‘90s vibe.
Here’s one of the cute hairstyles that comes out particularly well if you had curls of waves the day before. Make a ponytail using the top half of your hair and on the last wrap of the hair tie, keep it in a loop. Then take all the remaining hair at the bottom and make another loop. Weave the loose ends around these two loops and put a claw clip in the middle.
For those lazy days, when you can get away with wearing a hat, try this fantastic braiding trick. Make a loose ponytail on one side, create a gap at its base and pull the ends of the ponytail through that opening. You will have two twisted sides at the top. Then make a gap in one of these twists, and pull all your hair through. Repeat it, this time pulling through the twist on the alternating side.
Keep going, fluffing and pulling your ‘braid’ at the same time. Use a dry texturizing spray in the process. Isn’t it unbelievably easy! Now do the same on the other side. You can also make a one side braid instead.
You naturally reach for a scrunchie on those days before washing your hair, but why not spice up your pony by giving it some texture? You will need a few clear elastic bands to secure the topsy-tail elements at the crown.
Whatever second-day hairstyle you choose, use some products in your root area, depending on the final look you want to achieve. If you aim for a slick look, apply some wax or gel and finish it with a strong hold hairspray. However, for a messy and loose style, opt for a dry shampoo or a texturizing product.
