Here at Pony Studios and Pony Salon in Oakland, we tend to emphasize the importance of a thorough consultation with each client. The end result is a hyper-personalized cut based on suitability to one’s lifestyle, hair type, and head shape. The effortless cuts are designed to require little or no styling, which keeps our clients coming back for more.

Take a look at some select styles that can be yours truly that demonstrate some of these bespoke “wash and wear” looks!

1. Wavy Bob with Bangs

This bob is shorter in the back with lots of movement around the face and in layers. Style this messily with surf spray and mousse to bring out any natural waves.

2. Shaggy Long Layers with Bangs

This cut looks great on thick wavy hair. It helps the wearer with easy effortless styling. In this photo, the layers are styled with an inch curling iron and then shaken out.

3. 60’s Inspired Long Layers

This cut focuses more on height in the crown and that is where the shortest layers exist. The style is paired with French girl bangs. Lili has thick wavy hair and lets it air dry for this look.

4. The Bowl Cut

This cut is like a heavy bang all around the head with a short and tight nape. Such a great look because even though it’s quite short it still has a long feel because there are no layers. This cut also frames cheekbones beautifully. Very easy to style like all of my cuts, just apply a volumizing product and go!

5. Round Long Layers

Great on tight curls! This cut creates a shape that looks fuller on top rather than at the bottom. To style, add mousse on very wet hair and brush through with a brush that sets your curls and sits under a hood dryer or air dry or diffuse.

6. Modern Bardot Layers

This hairstyle has long bangs and bits. These are pieces around the face that fall out of an updo very naturally and look amazing! A great way to make long hair more versatile and interesting! In this photo I blow-dried the client with the Iles Formula Finishing Serum with a round brush and Mr. Smith volumizing spray at the crown.

7. Razor Long Layers

This cut is a dome with the razor to change long heavy straight flat hair into something much lighter and voluminous without changing up the feel of having long hair! This can be styled by adding surf spray at the roots and leaving it on the ends and diffused to create more body in straight hair.

8. The Bi-Level

This cut is great for that unique individual who loves to stand out in a subtle way. This is a great way to try out short hair without fully going there! The key to making this cut beautiful is to keep it simple: blunt one length bob over blunt one length long hair. To style blow out smooth and wear totally straight or add some waves with an iron.

9. The Tri-Level

Same as above but add one more level at bangs! The way to cut this is to keep all lines parallel to each other! Style straight or with waves.

10. The 90s Drew Bob

This cut is very short with long bangs. To make it 90s, add lots of shiny products to make it look unwashed and let air dry.

11. The French Bob

Meant to look classic and cut quite short above the hairline. Hairline peeks out of underneath the length of the bob to give it that je-ne-sais-quoi. Style with a volumizing mousse and diffuse to enhance natural texture or air dry.

12. Classic Bob with Bangs and Bits

This is cut just like a bob in the back and in front there are bangs and lots of framing bits that add interest to just a bob. To style, let air dry with surf spray.

13. Modern Bob

This bob is layered with round shaggy layers and strong heavy bangs. Looks great on most hair types because it adds volume to the crown and creates an edge with a strong bang. To style, add a grooming creme that adds subtle shine and diffuse.

14. The Pulp Fiction Bob

Inspired by Uma’s wig and cut very simply with a razor. Straight across bangs and square bob with zero layers but tons of weight removal for added body. To style, add surf spray and go!

15. Baby Bangs

Baby bangs can be added to any cut for the individual who likes to stand out. These frame your face and eyebrows so that attention is drawn to your eyes. To style, blow dry in both directions when wet to control any unwanted growth patterns.

16. 90’s Inspired Curly Bangs and Layers

These bangs are inspired by Lisa Bonet and look great with this heavy side part just behind the bangs. To style, add mousse and air dry in the center then move partway over when hair is still slightly damp.

17. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Shag

This cut is inspired by the rolling stones and has a bit of a masculine feel. Great for waves and curls! Heavily layered and worn with natural texture for this look!

18. The Mini Mullet

Very layered and left a bit of length in the nape to make it cool. This cut is definitely for the person who has endless style. To style this mullet add gel for a wet look and style messily.

19. The Crop

This cut has a heavy moppy top and is about the same length all over. To style, wash n go!

20. The Mermaid Layers

Started cutting this cut in 2006 and it has never gone out of style. The look is hair that looks like it’s never been cut and that it just grew in this way from birth. To style let air dry with a light leave-in conditioner or throw it up in a bun while slightly damp and let it fall out after about 15-20 minutes shiny and gorgeously waved.
