One of the most damaging things you could do to your natural hair is styling it when dry. Before starting a fresh style, you want to make sure that your hair is clean, damp, and well detangled. If previously washed, go in with a spray bottle to dampen the curls a bit and use your detangling brush to run through a few times. The aim being to make sure there are no knots or tangles between the strands.
Into a small section, part the hair in a straight line from ear to ear. Tie up the back to keep it out of your face for a while then, make a side part on the little section you previously parted at the front.
You can make the side part as close or as far from the middle of your face as you desire. After this, do a flat or regular twist on both sides of the front part to keep them down for a while
Here comes the fun part: activating your curls! Start by untying the section of hair that was tied behind.
Working in small sections, take your mousse and apply it to the hair raking through a few times with your fingers. After that, take a little bit of your curl defining gel, rub it on the palm of your hands, and rake it through the hair in the same pattern again.
