7 Head-Turning French Curl Braid Hairstyles to Elevate Your Look in 2024

Step into the world of French curl braids, where elegance meets trendiness in the most enchanting way. In 2024, these braids have captured hearts and headlines, becoming the ultimate statement hairstyle! Mainly characterized by its clean parts, slim braided strands, and voluminous curled ends, this trendy hairstyle is a classy twist on the much loved knotless braids, combining traditional braids with romantic curls to create a breathtakingly enchanting hairstyle. Over the past year, French curl braids have taken the internet by storm with tons of videos surfacing across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. But beyond the initial braid magic, styling these beauties opens up a world of versatile possibilities. So, get ready to unleash your inner stylist! Here are 7 dazzling options to rock your French curl braids: 1. Classic Bun with a Claw Clip The bun has always been a timeless and classy hairstyle, but a braided bun is a whole other level of chic! Start by taking a sectioning out some part of your hair at the front. Gather the rest of your braids loosely at the crown and wrap it up in a neat bun. Next, take the previously sectioned out braids and wrap them to the back of your head, using them as a headband. Secure it with a hair tie and use a claw clip to attach it to the bun. You can leave out two strands on each side of the front-center of your hair to frame your face for a little whimsy touch. [caption id="attachment_69021" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @celinakama[/caption] 2. Cute Messy Bun with Bangs Messy buns give off a chic yet effortless look letting you pass the laid-back vibe check while still looking hot as ever. Gather your braids loosely towards the back of your head while leaving out a section at center front part. These will act as your face-framing bangs. Next, loosely twist and wrap the braids into a bun, letting some curls lay out to give a lovely playful vibe. [caption id="attachment_69015" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @celinakama[/caption] 3. Curly Half-Up with Side Bangs Channel your inner fairytale princess with this romantic style. Start by sectioning out little side bangs at the front. Go on to style it to the left or right of your face. Next, divide the rest of your hair into two parts being top and bottom. Take the top part and tie it up leaving only the curly part to flow down. Let the bottom part cascade down your back creating a captivating contrast with the already existing side fringe. [caption id="attachment_69017" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @celinakama[/caption] 4. Curly Half Up with a Side Swoop This is a slight variation from our previous style. For this one, you want to rinse and repeat the same process, but take the side fringe you created and swoop it up to meet the section you've tied at the top. This variant is perfect for drawing a little extra attention to the face while also showcasing your beautiful updo. [caption id="attachment_69016" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @celinakama[/caption] 5. Classy Leave Out with Braided Headband For this look, you're going to be using a section of your hair as a hairband. Leave out a section of hair at the front and use it to create a braided headband. From the middle, wrap the hair around the both sides of your head, taking it all the way to the back and securing with a hair tie. Once you’re done, let the rest of your hair down to cover the tied part. Classy hairstyle done and ready! [caption id="attachment_69019" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @celinakama[/caption] 6. Cute Headband Moment Headbands have always been in style, be it the jersey bands, regular ones, or just taking a piece of clothing to tie around the head. People around the world have always embraced the sporty-chic trend with a headband. Start by leaving out your braids to flow down beautifully then take a jersey headband (or a regular one) and use it to push your braids back, creating a carefree and stylish look. This style is perfect for keeping your hair out of your face on active days. [caption id="attachment_69018" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @celinakama[/caption] 7. Half Up Half Down with a Claw Clip This versatile style combines the best of both worlds, showcasing the textured braids and bouncy curls that French curl braids embody. Take two strands at the front center part of the head and leave them down to frame the face. Next, divide the hair into the top and bottom parts. Secure the upper half of the braids with a hair tie and then claw clip, letting the remaining braids flow down your back for a chic and effortless look. [caption id="attachment_69020" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @joyshairstudio[/caption] So, whether you opt for a classic bun, a cute messy updo, or a playful half-up style, let your French curl braids be a canvas for your creativity. Remember, these are just suggestions. Don't be afraid to experiment, mix and match different techniques to create your own unique style for your French curl braid masterpiece. Embrace the magic of these versatile braids, and let your unique style shine!

Unleash Your Curls: Mastering Trendy Faux Bangs for Natural Afro Hair

Afro hair is incredibly versatile and can be styled in various ways but committing to bangs is where many naturals draw the line. I mean, who wants to sacrifice their hard-earned length by risking an unfavorable cut?! If you're a natural who's a lover of the curly bangs trend and would love to try it out without the full commitment of cutting your hair, you've come to the right place sis, we got you! The trendy faux bangs are here to save the day! This hair hack offers endless possibilities for styling and expression, as well as experimenting new looks all while keeping your precious strands intact. There are a number of techniques used by many curly girls and afro naturals around the world to create fake bangs on their natural hair. Here are two super easy ones you can try out today: Let's get started! The Bobby Pin Method As the name implies, all you'll need for this method is a bobby pin (or two). Start by leaving your hair out and spreading it evenly towards all sides. Next, you're going to take the front part and section off the area you want for your bangs. Be sure not to make a part too thick or too thin. Medium sized volume is enough for the look. After parting, push the parted section back a bit, pushing it up to your desired bangs length, and then secure the spot with a bobby pin or two if needed. Be sure to check the length of the bangs before fastening on the pin to ensure that it's the right length you want. When your pin is secured, make sure to blend out the surrounding areas of the bangs with your fingers to give it that seamless finish. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/AuJVKPjKshc The Headband Method For this method, you're going to need a hair tie or a scrunchie, along with a headband and/or a scarf. Start off the look by sectioning your hair into two parts being top and bottom. Next, begin working with the bottom, tying that section up into a playful messy bun. Tie the bun loosely while letting some of the curls seep through for that effortless vibe. When you're done tying the bun, grab the section that's left (the top apart you sectioned earlier) and fold it up letting the ends dangle just above or slightly below your eyebrows. This will serve as your bangs. The next step is to secure the folded part with a bobby pin and place the headband over it. For a more stylish look, take a long scarf and tie it once over the headband. Place the headband on your head and use the scarf to cover it all the way to the back. You can tie a knot of a bow at the back for a more elegant look. https://www.tiktok.com/@sophiemariecurly/video/7204149311481957637 When you're done with all the steps, spread out your freshly created bangs for a more even finish. Who says you can't rock bangs without fully committing to cutting your hair? This article has proven that with a little creativity and the right techniques, you can achieve stunning faux bangs without daring to touch the length of your natural tresses. The style adds instant flair to your naturally curly hair, letting you test out the fringe without a snip. Plus, it's perfect for protecting your delicate edges! So feel free to try it out and enjoy the best of both worlds with your newly hacked bangs.

A Famous YouTuber Combs Out Her 4-Year Old Locs: This How-To Is Worth Taking Notes

Combing out dreadlocks is a hugely tedious and time consuming task. To a lot of people, the mere thought of it sounds impossible! This YouTuber is here to prove that theory wrong. West Indie Ray is a natural hair influencer who has grown a solid follower base by creating content specifically tailored to people with dreadlocks. Thus, the decision to part ways with the style was a big and brave move in itself. The creator's loc journey started when her mother sadly passed away, which make the take-down process a symbol of moving on from sadness and letting go of grief. [caption id="attachment_68595" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @westindieray[/caption] The video quickly took off on YouTube gaining thousands of views and likes with hundreds of people sharing their thoughts and feelings similar experiences in the comments. We are glad to be there for the inspiring creator as well as share her tips and tricks that you can use to end your own journey when you feel the time has come. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb7lkM2iKXw How to Unraveling Locs To give you an idea of what we are working with, the locs were medium size, mid-back length, and West Indie Ray had them in for four years and a few months. Also, Indie had color-treated hair, which makes the combing out process high-risk, as chemically treated hair is generally weaker and usually more susceptible to dryness and breakage. Whatever the state of your own locs, you can never go wrong with the gentle and thorough approach. Things Needed Detangling conditioner Warm water A spray bottle Hair ties/ hair clips A rat tail comb A hair brush After you get everything needed, follow these steps: 1. Mix the conditioner in a spray bottle Put a few squirts of your detangling conditioner into a spray bottle, adding a concurring amount of warm water, and shake it up to mix. Use the mixture to saturate the locs before combing them out. Indie used the Wella color-safe, extra-moisturizing conditioner. You can use any conditioner that suits your style but it is recommended that you go for something with a lot of slip to make the detangling process easier. 2. Part the hair into sections Then, part your hair into six sections starting with a straight part down the middle of the head then dividing those parts into sections of three. After parting, separate the sections with the hair ties (you can also use hair clips). Starting unraveling on the last section at the back of your head will make the proces more comfortable. 3. Apply conditioner on the loc For the conditioner application, spray the mixture in the spray bottle onto a single loc saturating it from root to tip. Next, take a little bit of the conditioner and apply it to the loc you are about to work on. 4. Comb it out Using a rat tail comb, unravel the locs bit by bit starting from root to tips. The trick is to comb out from the point where the hair is loc-dead. This helps to prevent severe knotting and breakage while combing. After the combing out process, you may notice that you have a lot of shedded hair. Don't be afraid. This is totally normal as humans shed anywhere between 50 to 100 strands of hair per day. In the case of dreadlocks, the hair is locked together so the shedded hairs simply can't fall out. Bonus Tips The combing out process took Indie 9 whole days with a little help from her sister and husband on a few occasions. While the process its tedius, there are a few tips and tricks that can help. Plan the comb-out around a time when you're less busy. If you currently have locs and plan to take them out someday, remember to frequently moisturize the locs. This will help reduce friction between the strands thereby making the unraveling process easier in due course. Lastly, the creator shared that the constant combing gave her an injury on the thumb and a hack she used to handle this was; she took a cleaning glove, cut the thumb part out, and used it as a thimble. She shared that it helped reduce the friction between the comb and her fingers thereby preventing any wear and tear that could lead to further injury. Combing out dreadlocks is a hard process regardless of the size, length, or how long you've had them in. It can feel mentally draining and physically exhausting. Remember to be patient with yourself and try not to rush the process. Handle the loc detangling with care and don't be afraid to take breaks if you need it or get help whenever you can.
