Ever wondered why some hairstyles look amazing on others but don’t quite work for you? The secret might lie in your face shape. TikTok star Pierre Dalati, known for his “Self Improvement Daily” motto and boasting 2 million followers, offers valuable insights on choosing the perfect men’s haircut based on your face shape.
A round face shape typically has soft, non-angular features with equal width and height. Pierre suggests that men with round faces should opt for hairstyles that elongate the face to create the illusion of a longer, more defined shape.
Quiff: The quiff adds height at the top, drawing the eyes upward and away from the cheeks.
Curly Under Fades: This style combines curls on top with faded sides, giving the illusion of a longer face.
Slick Backs: By pulling the hair back and adding volume, a slick back hairstyle can help balance the roundness.
Twists: Twists create vertical lines that can make the face appear longer and less round.
Men with square face shapes have a prominent jawline and a broad forehead. According to Pierre, the goal here is to accentuate these strong features with the right haircut.
Buzz Cut: This minimalistic style highlights the square shape and strong jawline.
Crew Cut: Slightly longer than a buzz cut, a crew cut also emphasizes the jaw while adding a bit of texture on top.
Diamond face shapes feature high cheekbones with a narrower forehead and chin. “This face shape can pull off pretty much anything but optimally you want something with more volume overall,” Pierre says.
Modern Mullet: With volume at the back and shorter sides, the modern mullet balances the cheekbones.
Middle Part: This classic style draws attention to the center of the face and adds width at the top.
Slick Back: Adding volume throughout, a slick back can soften the cheekbones while maintaining a polished look.
A long face shape is longer than it is wide, often with a high forehead and strong chin. Pierre advises against styles that add extra length.
Buzz Cut: A short buzz cut reduces the length and adds width to the face.
Crew Cut: Similar to the buzz cut but with a bit more texture, this style shortens the appearance of the face.
Side Part: A side part breaks up the length and adds a balanced, classic look.
