As summer heats up, what better way to stay cool than by opting for a shorter hairstyle? Lily Collins has done just that, trading in her long, flowing locks for a stylish French bob that’s sure to turn heads.
Lily Collins isn’t new to dramatic hair changes. The internet has not forgotten her infamous “breakup” bangs from season three of Emily in Paris – that impromptu haircut was relatable to all the girlies out there and thus left a lasting impression. Now, Lily is channeling her inner hairstylist again, snipping her long waves into a chic bob. This time, however, she wisely teamed up with her trusted hairstylist Gregory Russell to perfect two of summer’s hottest bob trends.
Lily Collins has always exuded a French-girl vibe, so we could totally see her (and her Emily in Paris, too) going for a French bob. And with the bob trend taking over Hollywood, it’s no surprise Lily decided to join in.
Lily teased her followers on Instagram with a photo of her long hair and the playful caption, “Good(bye) hair day,” hinting at a major change. After that, celebrity hairstylist Gregory Russell had unveiled her new look: a blunt short bob that grazes just below her chin. This sleek cut, with its inward flip perfectly frames her face and suits her bone structure.
To switch things up even more, Lily actually went darker, choosing a dark brown, nearly black shade, going against the summer trend of lighter hues. The color was crafted by Jacob Schwartz, a stylist known for his work with Lana Del Rey, Margot Robbie, and many other stars.
After the cut, Russell styled Lily’s new bob with a flat iron, using Pureology’s Style + Protect Volumizing Texture Finishing Hairspray for a smooth, polished finish. He added a touch of Pureology’s Style + Protect Shine Bright Weightless Hair Taming Serum for an extra boost of shine.
Lily isn’t sticking to just one look. Within 24 hours of her transformation, she showcased two of the season’s most popular bob styles. After debuting her blunt bob, Lily appeared at the Hollywood premiere of MaXXXine with a glamorous, vintage-inspired bob. This version featured a side part and elegantly curled-in ends, giving her a classic Hollywood look with a modern twist.
With the fourth season of Emily in Paris premiering later this summer, we’re excited to see how Lily will continue to style her new bob. Keep an eye out for her latest looks and get inspired by the hottest short hair trends for 2024!
