Are you desperate to grow long, thick hair, but your patience is coming up short? If this sounds like you, then you might want to try the inversion method for hair growth. The method reviews range from “the best hair growth method” to “just a myth”, so let us explain what it is all about and why it can really make your hair grow faster.

How to Do the Inversion Method

The inversion method (also known as the Mulholland method) first popped up online in 2013, with users of the method swearing that they saw their hair grow as much as two inches in a week!

The inversion therapy is centered around promoting blood flow to the scalp and stimulating the follicles, which contributes to hair growth. It involves what it says – hanging out in a strange position for a while. But there is more to it than that.

Here are the steps you should follow:

1. Apply Oil

The first step is grabbing a good-quality hair oil; about 2-4 tablespoons should do, but you can alter this depending on your hair type and thickness. Warm your oil, being careful you don’t make it too hot.

Then, massage it into your scalp and through the roots of your hair for 5 minutes. Don’t scrimp – make sure you take time to really stimulate your scalp and enjoy the massage.

2. Flip Hair

Now comes the actual inversion. Get into a comfortable position and flip hair upside down! Hang your head downwards in a position that works for you: “sitting” upside down on a sofa, a calming yoga pose, or even a headstand. As long as your head and your hair are upside down for 4 minutes, you’re doing it right.

3. Rise Slowly

After the 4 minutes are up, very gently and slowly, come back up to your regular position. It is recommended to keep the oil in your hair for up to 3 hours. Or, better still, overnight. You may wrap your hair as you do for hot oil treatment. This allows extra time for your hair, follicles, and scalp to benefit from the oil.

4. Rinse and Repeat

Wash your hair with your usual shampoo and conditioner routine. Repeat the inversion hair method at least once or twice a day for a week, then take a break for three next weeks.

Repeat the inversion method for a week every month. Doing it all the time is not recommended, as your body may get accustomed to the routine and stop responding with the increased hair growth.

Are There Any Risks or Side Effects?

This is a fairly risk-free hair growth method. However, since it involves you having your head upside down for a few minutes, you do need to be cautious: it is possible that you may develop a headache, or become dizzy or lightheaded.

You should avoid trying this method if you are pregnant, have issues with blood pressure or your heart, or if you suffer from vertigo or spinal issues.

Does the Inversion Method Really Work?

The inversion method and other quick hair growth remedies and therapies are nothing new. Every year, there seems to be a new kid on the block that promises to persuade your scalp to produce longer, healthier hair. And fast.

But, does this one work?

There has been a lot of hype and positive inversion method reviews. Although there is no scientific proof that doing a headstand can make your hair grow faster, there is some science behind the method.

Massaging your scalp does increase blood flow to the hair follicles (this is why scalp massagers for hair growth are so popular) and hanging your head upside down does cause blood to rush to your head. This in turn can improve the hair’s strength, as well as promote its growth.

Depending on what oils you use can also make a difference. For example, oils such as rosemary, peppermint, and castor oil have been proven to stimulate hair growth. Meaning they could improve your chances of growing longer hair quicker.

How to Grow Healthy Hair

Sometimes, we all want that secret weapon that can instantly turn our short and thinning hair into long, luscious locks without using any of the extension types. The truth is, the ultimate result depends on a number of factors.

First, and most importantly, your diet plays a big role in healthy hair and hair growth. Avoid a restrictive diet; you don’t want to miss out on important vitamins and nutrients such as protein, which is vital for hair growth. Pile up your plate with healthy choices and variety, and your hair will reap the benefits.

You can also take supplements to help give your hair a health kick. Try vitamins for hair growth such as iron, biotin, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin B12, and essential amino acids.

Be wary of heat damage. Intense heat from hair dryers, curling irons, and straighteners can cause breakage and other damage to your hair. Try to limit their usage and use cooler settings, especially when your hair is fine and thin. Consider investing in a heat protection treatment to apply before styling and reduce damage.

Even though it is harder than it sounds, avoid stress, which is one of the common causes of both hair loss and early graying.

If you want to grow healthier, thicker, and longer hair and look for a way to way boost your hair growth, why not give the inversion hair method a go? And if you do, we would love to see your results. Tag us on Instagram or Facebook, and let us know how the inversion method worked for you.
