Have you felt ‘meh’ about your hair lately? During this time of year, we often feel down, and this can reflect in the way we look too. However, making an effort with clothes, applying that brighter lipstick, and styling your hair are the easiest ways to cheer yourself up.
Stine Eleonora Honoré, a digital creator from Copenhagen, offers two easy pick-me-up low bun ideas for a good hair day. Watch these two amazing hair tutorials and try to make your own bun.
A soft twisted bun is great for the days when ‘you don’t know what to do with your hair’ – this is how Stine, the maker of this video, describes it. A perfect updo for long and fine or medium thickness hair, it can be created virtually in 5-10 minutes. The fact that you only need two plain hair bands makes it a perfect last-moment hairstyle for those occasions when you want to look more elevated without over-complicating things.
Here’s how to do it. First, make a low ponytail and on the last wrap of the elastic band, only pull the hair halfway through – this will be the base of your bun. Split the free ends into two sections and twist each of them. Then lift both twists and secure them together with a hair band, creating a loop on top of your bun base. Next, twist this loop and wrap it around the base.
If your hair is super silky, add a few pins or tiny claw clips to hold it in place. Also, girls with extra thick hair might want to secure each twist separately, using some bobby pins for extra grips.
This super soft bun is even easier to make, and it will quickly become your go-to style after trying it for the first time. It’s one of those updos that instantly make you look put together without taking much time and effort.
All you need to do is twist all your hair together at the back of your hair, then wrap this twist around the base, creating a bun. Put an elastic band on top to secure it.
Those with thick and heavy hair can start by making a ponytail and then follow the rest of the steps from this video. The same applies if you want to 100% know that your bun is not moving by an inch because, say, you are going for a run or… to a theme park.
Personalize your bun to your liking – pull out some strands to make it fuller, add an accessory, or leave some face-framing locks.
