If you’ve been itching to put scissors to your strands for a while now, spring is the best time to do so. Shed the winter energy and try one of the expert-selected haircuts for a fresh start. Distinctive shapes, admirable textures, and new takes on the classics – this season has got it all!
This classic style with a touch of Parisian charm is a great haircut to reshape your gold-but-old bob. San Antonio hairstylist Emily Hamilton Calton loves the endless versatility of a French bob. “You can wear it sleek and straight or you can add lots of volume or a small wave,” explains Emily. She suggests pairing it with curtain bangs or full bangs with a little texture.
Need a no-fuss look that will make your morning routine faster and easier? A soft pixie, similar to the one Emma Stone debuted at the Golden Globes 2025, is fiercely coming into fashion. As for its main features, “I’m seeing lots of textured and spiky layers, a shorter bang, and a softer neckline,” details Emily. You can wear it tousled and spiky, or go for a sleeker, more polished look, just like Emma did at the Oscars 2025.
A cut with graduated sides is perfect for 4C hair if you’re after a style that’s easy to keep looking fresh. This style is a bit longer on the sides compared to a tapered cut. “In most cases, this type of cut preserves the volume at the top, creating a full, well-defined shape, while the sides feature some degree of angulation,” points out Brazilian hairstylist Tiago Costa.

Wear your heart on your sleeve or, in this case, on your head with a unique hairstyle. This stylish design works best for type 4C hair and requires a lot of skill from a stylist. They’ll need to be “working in small sections to ensure the cut’s shape becomes visible as it dries,” explains Tiago.

“For longer hair, I’m seeing a lot of wolf cuts and butterfly cuts giving lots of volume and layers,” notes Seattle hairstylist Denise Welsh. What makes them so great? They are perfect for both bouncy blowouts and those days when you want to give your hair a heat break and just air dry your locks. When worn up, there will be a lot of face-framing layers falling down around your face. “Minimal effort with maximum results and I’m here for it!” says Denise, and we can totally relate.

If you’re all about laid-back, effortless vibes, textured loose waves are your ultimate go-to hairstyle. “Natural hair is not perfect, so out with the tight curls and in with the flawed and uneven waves,” says Connecticut-based stylist Natalie Weaver. She suggests using a curling iron or flat iron to work in soft waves that mimic the texture your hair gets after a day at the beach. A dry texture spray or salt spray won’t hurt either.

The haircut that adds volume to thin hair doesn’t exi… But here comes the 90s-style bob with curtain bangs! “This short cut will make your hair appear fuller, while the curtain bangs add more shape around the face,” explains Natalie. Use heat rollers for maximum volume or a curling iron for a flirty flip at the ends.

A classic mullet but make it feel modern. Here’s your mini mullet. UK-based barber and creative hairdresser Jayson Cuzins describes this contemporary adaptation as a haircut with “shorter lengths on the sides and longer hair at the back.”

Anyone keeping up with TikTok trends will love the broccoli haircut. It is achieved with a perm and features tapered sides and short, layered curls on top.

Clean, minimalistic, and super easy to keep, a buzz cut is never out of a barber’s roster. It’s a great cut to experiment with bold hair colors or shaved details.
