If you are in your heatless curl era, you must try this awesome trick presented in this video by Kenna McClellan, a freelance model and Instagram creator. The beauty of this technique is that it’s simple and won’t damage your hair. All you need is a pair of soft sports socks and a claw clip for sectioning!
The process involves wrapping your hair up in two sock buns, which takes only a few minutes. You can then comfortably leave the construction overnight. Keep reading to learn more about how to make this method work miracles.
Thoroughly brushing your hair before curling is essential. It helps to make sure that your hair is smooth and free of any knots or kinks that could prevent your curls from turning out the way you want them to.
Start with clipping the top half of your hair away and work on the bottom section. Use a claw clip to secure the toe part of the sock to your head. Then the most important part begins – you start wrapping your hair around the sock with some tension. Make sure your hair is smooth. While the author of the video suggests wrapping as tightly as you can, we’d recommend applying moderate tension. A softer approach will deliver looser waves and ensure there’s no physical damage to your hair.
Also, Kenna mentioned getting your hair slightly damp after wrapping it around the sock. However, for more even and controlled results, use this technique on hair that is already slightly damp throughout. Don’t try it on hair that is too wet – it will take ages to dry.
Fast forward to the final step. Once you have twisted all your hair around the sock, you take out the clip and wrap the twist around the base to create a bun. Then you cover it up with the sock as seen in the video.
“I keep trying to do it but it falls out as soon as I try to twist it after taking the clip out. Am I doing something wrong?” asks one of Kenna’s followers in the comment section.
