There’s probably one common fear every hair fan experienced at least once in their life – getting the wrong hair color after spending hours in the hairdresser’s chair. Just imagine, you’re asking your stylist to make you blonde, but she turns you into a brunette instead. This client knows the feeling all too well because that’s exactly what happened after a hair salon appointment.
In her defense, professional hairstylist Lexie Rainbolt explains that her client’s hair was already too fried to go lighter, so she basically saved her locks from further damage by switching to bronde. While the result is stunning, the whole transformation journey has people all riled up. Some followers are blaming the hair pro for acting against her client’s wish, while others assume the story is staged for the views. Which side are you on?
In her earlier Facebook video, the stylist shares her new client’s hair journey. Initially, the client wanted to go lighter, ditching her blonde highlights and embracing a new shade of blonde. But the poor hair quality told the hair specialist enough to let her client’s dreams of a chic blond mane fly out of the window.
“I’m gonna take her darker without telling her and deal with the consequences of that later,” the hairdresser explains. After putting some foils for processing, the hair pro turns her client away from the mirror so she can’t see how dark her hair becomes. The final result is a blend of brown and blonde that matches the client’s natural hair color.
While the voiceover video is obviously made as a joke, many online users don’t appreciate the humor. “This is why people don’t trust hairdressers,” one person comments. “No. As a hair stylist you don’t do this, period,” another user agrees. “I do like the outcome but no! Always tell your client unless you did this for clout and it was planned but you just chose to voice over it,” a follower adds.
Many hair fans, however, get the idea behind the unexpected hair makeover. The client’s bleach-damaged hair wouldn’t make it after another bleaching session, so going darker was the only option. “She was a natural brunette anyway. Good to let grow out and get natural highlights let hair heal a little,” a hair fan suggests. “Beautiful job! (Calm down ppl, I’m sure it was a client who said “Do whatever you think looks best”) Or something similar,” another user mentions. Either way, the client looks happy, and her hair is much healthier than before.
Building trust with your hairstylist is the most rewarding feeling. Because, sometimes, trusting your hairdresser may actually save your hair (and money).
