Cutting bangs is a major hair moment every hair fan has experienced at least once in their lifetime. Getting a fringe on natural curls, however, is a whole new level of commitment and upkeep. As practice shows, a freshly-cut fringe opens a new chapter in your hair styling routine, so knowing helpful tips and tricks is a must for a fail-proof glam. We found two life-saving styling hacks for curly bangs to make them sit right with your ringlets.
The pro stylist and curl specialist Melissa Guido knows exactly how to get creative with a curly fringe and style it beautifully for the ultimate confidence boost. The hairdresser shares her go-to styling tricks to keep the curly bangs in place and make them pop with volume. Just choose what works best for your type of bangs and enjoy your put-together look!
Everybody loves curtain bangs because they’re versatile and flattering for many face shapes. Parted down the middle and swept to the sides, they create an effortless face-framing look, drawing attention to the eyes and enhancing high cheekbones. But, alas, making those wispy pieces stay put all day is a true challenge, especially if you have naturally curly locks.
The most important thing to remember is that you need to work with damp hair when styling your curly fringe. To achieve a perfect face-framing look with your curtain bangs, brush your front section forward first. Next, proceed with a slight zig-zag parting (to hide the scalp) and smooth the hair as you create the shape. Pin each side of your fringe in place with creaseless clips. Lastly, finger coil the ends and unclip when fully dry.
Not into curtain bangs? How about cowlick bangs that open up your face and keep the hair away from your forehead? This type of bangs creates more lift at the roots and can elongate the face, while also pushing the hair off your face.
To achieve this look, brush your front section up and away from the forehead for a lifting effect. Then, place a clip just below the lifted section to hold it in place. Fold the length of the hair over the top and shape it in an “S” or curtain style shape by placing pins in the curve of the section. Make sure your curls are fully dry before removing the clips.
If you’ve already mastered the curly girl hair routine, these easy tricks for curly bangs may be your next styling goal. Give them a try and get your flawless fringe every time!
