As 2025 draws nearer, it’s ever the more exciting to pull the curtain up a little and sneak a look at what hair trends are going to be in the next year. And you know what? This year is going to be a whirlwind of fresh takes on timeless cuts, new styling approaches, and novel hair shades. We turned to hair stylist for their expert opinion on the hottest 2025 hair trends and here come their predictions.
The blunt bob in all lengths is having a major resurgence this year. “I think the classic lob blunt cut will come back in with a sleek, turn-under middle part style,” shares Evie, master stylist and manager at Rokstar Salon.
Janina Ehrenberg, a Wella and Dyson artist, highlights the popularity of the Scandi bob. “The compact bob for all hair that is one length is super trendy,” she notes. You’ll recognize this cut by the effortless side flip that adds movement and softness.
For those drawn to longer styles, layers are key in 2025. “I see the longer lengths with lots of layers creating a really textured, wispy result,” says Evie. It has a relaxed kind of look but very dimensional and textural.
Shags and wolf cuts are transitioning seamlessly into 2025. Because let’s be real – all types of layered haircuts are more popular than ever. “They really complement any dense curl type,” notes Sarah D’Angelo, a Canadian curly hair specialist.
Today, curly-haired people are going for rounder styles regardless of whether their hair is long or short and this trend will continue in the upcoming year. “I’m seeing fuller, rounder shape requests coming in for both long and short hair going into 2025,” notes Sarah.
Rich hues dominate this year’s color trends. Evie connects this trend with the Pantone color of the year, Mocha Mousse: “Rich tones like golden, caramel, and mocha shades will be huge. Freehand balayage will complement these beautifully.”
Bold reds, fiery coppers, and cherry browns are making a dramatic comeback. Sarah confirms, “Reds are in! Cherry browns, violets, and rose gold blended balayage and babylights are trending.” Evie agrees, noting that fiery tones “have changed the way people see red or copper and how you can wear them.”
Blonde tones are shifting toward a softer, more multidimensional aesthetic. “The main credo is that the color must be multifaceted,” says Janina. Natural, nuanced blondes will breathe life into any haircut, long or short.
Braids are back, and they’re not holding back. Evie highlights their resurgence: “Braids and plaits are coming back with full force.” Janina echoes the sentiment, “High braids fixed with pony cuffs are very popular.”
Hair accessories will be as favored as ever in 2025, with no shortage of ways to personalize your look. Janina notes, “Whether pearls, glitter, bows, or flowers, everything is possible, nothing is necessary.” Meanwhile, Evie adds, “Hair bangles and gems are leveling up the hair game, and I’m all for it.” Just the right accents for a touch of glamour!
Texture experimentation is in full swing, with soft curls, structured waves, and sleek, shiny finishes all on the table. Sarah observes a shift toward softer, fuller curls: “I’m using less gel than ever and opting for lightweight creams and foams.” Meanwhile, bouncy blowouts continue to be a go-to style, thanks to modern tools that simplify achieving salon-worthy results at home.
