Time to bring your roller set into use and say goodbye to wonky styles!
If you bought a pack of Velcro rollers but couldn’t figure out what to do with them, we have some exciting news for you. The truth is, there’s a whole world of hair styling opportunities hidden inside that simple tool.
With the right technique, you can easily inject your locks with volume or give your curtain bangs a nice, swoopy feel that lasts. So, don’t give up on your Velcro rollers just yet, and try the following tricks to make them work for your tresses!
Tired of your curtain bangs falling straight down or looking too curled? This technique guarantees a fail-proof swoop. Here’s the key. Pull the entire fringe section straight back toward the crown of your head.
Roll the hair from underneath the section, leaving about an inch of space from the root. Once you reach the root, gently twist the roller slightly toward the front of your face. Repeat the exact same step for the other side. This creates opposing tension that forces the hair to lift at the root before gently turning away from the face when released.
Flat hair? Not anymore! The secret to maximum volume is in roller placement! Start by sectioning off a small area of hair right at the temple and attaching a small Velcro roller to it. Now, take the next section, moving toward your parting, and use a slightly bigger roller this time. The closer you move to the roots and the top of your head, the bigger the size of the roller should become.
Do the same sequence on the other side. Use some hairspray and blow cool air over the rollers. Then, remove them gently and enjoy a long-lasting root lift!
Want a softer look where the hair gently curves in to frame your features? Instead of pulling the hair back, change the direction entirely! Roll the middle section of your fringe (or the middle part of your face-framing layers) not away, as is the case with curtain bangs, but straight towards your face. Secure it firmly.
Repeat this inward rolling motion for the longer side sections as well. Letting the hair set this way creates a soft, C-shaped curve that hugs the jawline beautifully.
Perhaps you already have a decent blowout, but you want to ensure the wave lasts all day. This trick guarantees your rollers do all the work, thanks to the right prep and placement. Start by sectioning off the middle area along the parting and further dividing it into three horizontal sections.
Work your straightener or curling iron through each section to apply heat and create a preliminary curl. Then, wrap each hot, pre-curled section immediately around a Velcro roller to let it set while it cools. Now, move to the side pieces, section along the parting, then divide into smaller parts, and attach rollers to each by wrapping your hair away from the face. Next, let everything set completely until cold, and unwrap for a bouncy blowout!
