One of the hottest current trends, a high twisted bun is not only elegant and chic but also surprisingly easy to do yourself. If you were puzzled about how to create this cool high bun type of hairstyle, this step-by-step tutorial by Missy Sue is a breeze.
Start by dividing the top half of your hair at your ears and go up to the crown of your head. Clip this section away for now.
Brush all the remaining hair to the right and put a few bobby pins vertically in the middle – this would create a base for the rest of the hair to be pinned into. Now wrap the ends gently toward the left and twist them up towards the top of your head, so the ends are left out of the twist. Take a few bobby pins and slide them in towards the center. Make sure you feel your hair is secured in place.
At your next step, let the top part down and combine it with the ends of the twisted section. You will need to create a bun that will be sitting on top of your head, over the twist. To achieve this, take an elastic band and make a ponytail at the point where you would like the bun to be.
On the last wrap of the elastic band, only pull the hair partially through to create a small loop of the hair. Leave the ends facing forward, towards your face, and backcomb them to create extra volume. Place this hair over the little loop, so the ends are hanging back towards the back of your head. Spread them out evenly and pin the strands at the base. Your twisted high bun is ready.
As you must have noticed, this hairstyle is a hybrid of the high bun and a twist. It means that you get the best out of these two updos – plenty of volume at the crown, a pronounced detail at the back, and a soft, sophisticated look.
