With two decades of experience under her belt, Dina, the master colorist specializing in balayage and ombré, reflects on her journey with grace. Choosing hairstyling over conventional career paths, she now owns a thriving hair and makeup studio in New Jersey. Currently working towards her cosmetology teaching degree, Dina embodies determination and personal growth.
One of her stellar contest works was a recreation of the 20s bridal look, where she perfected proportions and achieved harmony with a carefully chosen accessory.
Dina believes the magic lies in the emotion she imparts to her guests when they fall in love with their new locks. “I think the best part of what I do is the feeling that you transmit to your guest,” says Dina overswept with emotion when her guest is smitten with the new look.

Kyra, a show finalist and holder of the Top 25/Top 100 2023 One Shot Hair Awards and the Top 100 Alum of Modern Salon, brought a burst of energy to the competition. Expressing her excitement at being the final two, she proudly embraces her identity, saying, “I was blackity, black black representing!”
Kyra showcased her artistry by creating a show-stopping Afro look for the Met Gala, using four wigs to achieve the shiniest, most perfectly shaped Afro.
With 17 years in the industry, Kyra recently opened her salon in Chicago, aiming to give back what she’s learned to the community. As a former educator, her dream is to establish her beauty school or academy.
